Seven Time ASP Women's World Champion Layne Beachley is undoubtably one of Australia's greatest athletes, dominating the sport of surfing for almost 2 decades.

At the age of 16, Layne made her debut on the ASP Women's World Tour, and by the time she was 22 she was ranked number 3 in the world. Her first tour event win came in 1993 and in 1998 Layne won the first of her 6 consecutive world titles and a total of seven in her illustrious career, making her the most successful female professional surfer of all time.

In a career that spanned 19 years on the professional circuit, 7 world titles and 29 pro contest victories, Layne announced her retirement from full-time professional surfing in 2008. She remains the surfer with the greatest number of consecutive world titles, male or female.

Amidst her vast trophy cabinet and career honours, in 2004 Layne received the prestigious Laureus World Alternative Sportsperson Award and was inducted into the Australian Sporting Hall Of fame in 2011.

Out of the water Layne has proven herself to be business savvy and a media favourite. Along with Motivational speaking and ambassador roles, Layne sits on the board of Surfing Australia, maintaining her passion and commitment to the development and advancement of surfing from the grass roots level to creating future Australian world champions. Layne also stages the richest ASP stand alone women's surfing event in the world, The Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic. Now in its 7th year, Layne's dedication to the sport that provided her with an enviable lifestyle is unwavering.

In addition to her sporting and business endeavours, Layne established the Aim For The Stars Foundation in 2003, which provides financial and moral support for girls and women across Australia to fulfill their dreams and aspirations in a variety of fields including academia, the arts, music and sport.

Layne is one of Australia's greatest icons. Her tenacity, personality and professionalism are trademarks of her successes both in sport and business, and her desire, drive and determination to overcome all obstacles is admirable and inspiring.
