andrew hoy

Andrew Hoy is an Olympic gold medalist equestrian rider who competed for Australia for an unbelievable 27 years from 1978 until 2004, the Athens 2004 Olympics being his sixth and final appearance at an Olympic Games. Andrew lives in the United Kingdom with his wife Bettina, an equestrian rider who rides competitively for Germany.

The Hoys are one of only a handful of couples to have competed for different countries in the same event at the same Olympics. However, Andrew’s finest equestrian moment came when he won Team Gold and Individual Silver at the Sydney 2000 Olympics; and he remains the only Australian to have won three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the same event (Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, and Sydney 2000).
