Multi-award winning media personality Michael Parkinson has entertained audiences across Australia and the UK for over 40 years; from journalist to television and radio presenter, Michael is an international celebrity in his own right.

Michael interviewed hundreds of guests, from Hollywood stars to sporting royalty, over 11 years of engaging and entertaining Parkinson episodes broadcast during the 1970s and 1980s.

Parkinson returned to the small screen in 1998, featuring guests such as Tony Blair, David Beckham, Madonna, Sir Michael Caine, Joanna Lumley, Billy Connolly and Dame Edna Everage. Parkinson has won a BAFTA, The National Television Award for Most Popular Talk Show four times running and, in 2000, was voted in the top 10 of a British Film Institute poll of the Hundred Greatest Television Programmes of all time. Throughout his television career Michael has also broadcast extensively on radio while remaining a prolific author.

In 1998, Michael won awards for his work in three different branches of the media - a feat thought to be unique - winning a Sony Radio Award for Parkinson’s Sunday Supplement as well as being named Sports Writer of the Year at the Press Gazette British Press Awards and Media Personality of the Year by the Variety Club. Readers of the Radio Times crowned Michael the UK's ‘King of Chat’ in 2003. Michael was conferred a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2000 and a Knights Bachelor in 2008, both for services to Broadcasting.
